'The Killing' Season 3 to stream exclusively on Netflix after AMC finale

By Greg Gilman

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Netflix will exclusively stream the third season of "The Killing" three months after its season finale on AMC this year, the company announced on Thursday.

The streaming service's deal with Fox Television Studios, which produces the series, "played an extremely significant part" of the strategy that allowed the initially canceled drama to return to television this year.

The show's revival for a third season was announced in January.

"Our agreement with Netflix played an extremely significant part in the studio's strategy that enabled us to bring 'The Killing' back for a third season," David Madden, president of Fox Television Studios, said. "We are delighted to be in business with Netflix to deliver season 3, as well as past seasons of 'The Killing' to a broader audience worldwide."

Production on the new season began at the end of February; it is scheduled to air sometime in May.

Series leads Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman return as Sarah Linden and Stephen Holder, respectively. The story picks up a year after the former partners closed the Rosie Larsen murder case. Although Linden is no longer a detective, she is drawn back into the life she thought she'd left behind when Holder discovers a gruesome string of murders that connects to one of her previous murder investigations.

"We're excited to see 'The Killing' back on TV and we're especially proud to bring season 3 to our members so soon after it premieres on AMC," said Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer, Netflix. "The Killing is a terrific serialized drama and we know our members love these high-quality shows."

Season 1 and Season 2 of "The Killing" are already available on Netflix.

Leyendecker & Lemire represented patentee William Halamicek, a systems analyst at Strategic Products and Services and founder of Hangover Painover LLC, located at 6165 Clearwater Dr. in Loveland, Colo., in patenting a vitamin supplement hangover remedy last month. The cherry-flavored supplement comes in powder form in single-serving packages, can be mixed with water or fruit juice, and works best if taken the night of alcohol consumption, although it can also be taken the following morning.

?Hangover Painover is a great preventative and cure for hangover symptoms,? says Halamicek. ?It prevents or lessens headaches, nausea, etc., and lets you function throughout the next day. It is easy to take on the go and is fast acting in any situation.?

Halamicek?s product has been field tested and offers a scientifically balanced, synergistic blend of safe vitamins and nutrients that can be taken before, during, or after drinking. Leyendecker & Lemire is the legal correspondent listed for NeedleView?, a new trademark registered in December 2012 in the category of medical instruments products. The U.S. federal trademark registration was filed for NeedleView by BioVision Technologies, LLC, located at 221 Corporate Circle, Suite H, in Golden, Colo. BioVision Technologies develops and manufactures innovative micro-visualization solutions that enable endoluminal and minimally invasive medical procedures in both human and veterinary medicine. R/X Automation Solutions? ScriptPick? Single Channel Unit-of-Use Dispense & Labeling System is a fully automatic process tool designed to dispense and label high running single item Unit of Use products within the mail order and central fill pharmacy environments. Kindle Fire HD 8.9-inch now for sale in Europe and Japan, lower price in tow

Kindle Fire

Amazon is announcing both wider-scale availability of its largest Kindle Fire -- the HD 8.9-inch -- along with a price cut of both Wifi and 4G versions. Starting today the new, larger tablet will come to Europe -- UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain -- as well as Japan. That's quite a big increase in availability, as Amazon has typically struggled to push out its Kindle products to other countries which has likely been due to a lack of content deals to sell media on the devices. Along with the increased availability, the Kindle Fire HD 8.9-inch is receiving a price cut to $269 for the Wifi model and $399 if you want a 4G data connection.

That's a drop of $30 on the Wifi model and  whole $100 on the 4G model. As for the data pricing on the 4G model, the plans are staying the same at $50 per year for 250MB of data per month through AT&T. In typical Amazon fashion the new, cheaper Kindle Fires are immediately available for purchase.

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Working mothers increasingly want full-time jobs, and tough economic times might be a big reason, according to a national survey.

In the Pew Research Center study being released Thursday, researchers saw a big spike in the share of working mothers who said they'd prefer to work full time; 37 percent said that was their ideal, up from 21 percent in 2007.

The poll comes amid a national debate on women in the workplace ignited by top Facebook executive Sheryl Sandberg, who writes in a new book about the need for women to be more professionally aggressive.

In "Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead," Sandberg argues that women have not made true progress in the workplace over the past decade and that they need to raise their hands more and "lean in" if they want to land more senior positions in corporate America.

The shift toward full-time work in the Pew poll, however, coincides with the recession and may have less to do with career ambitions than with financial realities.

"Women aren't necessarily evolving toward some belief or comfort level with work," says study co-author Kim Parker, an associate director at the center. "They are also reacting to outside forces and in this case, it is the economy."

Among women who said their financial situations aren't sufficient to meet basic expenses, about half said working full time was best for them. Of the women who said they live comfortably, only 31 percent said full time was their best situation.

Melody Armstrong, 34, of Hampton, N.H., works full time and says she wouldn't have it any other way.

"It works better for my family, and for our finances," Armstrong said in an interview. "It helps pay the bills and we can enjoy the lifestyle we have. We need to have two incomes."

Armstrong and her husband have six children between them, a blended family with one child off to college and a baby at home. She works for Double Black Imaging, a Colorado-based company that sells medical monitors. Armstrong says her company gives her the flexibility she needs to work her sales position from home.

"I do some work early in the morning or after dinner," Armstrong says, and can adjust around her children's school and sports schedules.

Mothers' attitudes ? both for those who work outside the home and those who don't ? have changed significantly. Among women with children under 18 years old, the proportion of those who say they would prefer to work full time has increased from 20 percent in 2007 to 32 percent last year.

When all adults were asked about working moms, however, just 16 percent said the best situation for a young child is to have a mother working full time. Slightly over 40 percent said part time was ideal, and one-third said staying home was best for kids.

Guiomar Ochoa, 38, of Chevy Chase, Md., has two young children and works full time. She says she'd rather work part time but says it's just not an option for her family.

"We just can't afford to not have two full-time incomes," Ochoa says. "We wouldn't be able to do it otherwise."

Ochoa, an international specialist with the National Endowment for the Arts, says she's doing her best to juggle her career and caring for her children.

"I've done a really good job of wearing my mom hat when I get home and putting everything aside as far as work goes and focusing on them," said Ochoa.

Most moms in the poll expressed confidence as parents. Nearly three-quarters of mothers with children under 18 said they were doing an excellent or very good job raising their children. Fathers were asked that question, too, and 64 percent gave themselves high marks.

Other findings in the poll:

?Roughly half of working mothers and fathers say they would rather be home with their children but work because they need the income.

?Fifty-six percent of working mothers and 50 percent of working fathers say it's either very or somewhat difficult for them to balance work and family.

?Forty percent of working mothers with children under 18 and 34 percent of working fathers say they always feel rushed.

The Pew Research findings are based on a survey of 2,511 adults nationwide conducted Nov. 28-Dec. 5, 2012. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.2 percentage points.

A Writer Who Inspires with His Life As Well As His Words | Keith ...

I met him about twelve years ago at a pastor/spouse retreat. He was speaking. I was leading worship and doing some Biblical storytelling. Since it was a pastor/spouse retreat, both of us had our better halves with us.

Gary Thomas. Bestselling author. International speaker. I am extremely blessed and grateful that I have spent more than a decade calling him ?friend.?

Gary is passionate about the Bible. He recently agreed to write something just for you, the readers of this blog. It is based on his newest book The Sacred Search, written for singles who long, hope, and desire to one day be married.

I will be sharing that post this weekend. Stay tuned. I?ve read it and you will love it! (You?ll want to share it, too.)

Since this blog is all about the Bible ? and Gary unpacks and applies the Bible as well as anyone I know ? I thought I would share a few of my favorites. He?s written about 20 books. These are my top four:

authentic-faithAuthentic Faith is my favorite of Gary?s books. It might not have?sold as many copies as some others on this list, but it is outstanding. It challenged me to think about what it means to be a true disciple, gave me perspective on enduring challenges, and helped me think about the events God uses to shape us. Read it. You?ll be changed.

sacred-marriageSacred Marriage. This is Gary?s most famous book. In it, he asks the question ?What if God designed marriage to make us holy instead of happy?? It?s a bestseller for very good reason. If you?re married, read it. If you know someone who is married, give it to them.

sacred-pathwaysSacred Pathways. Another one of Gary?s bestsellers. If you want to improve your worship and walk with God ? in times of solitude and times of corporate worship ? this is the book for you. In Rick Warren?s Purpose Driven Life, he dedicates one of the forty days to the pathways in this book.

holy-availableHoly Available is in my top two books on the topic of holiness. (My other is The Pursuit of Holiness by Jerry Bridges.) Gary does an amazing job of tackling a topic that is hard to talk about without either skimming the surface, or descending into legalism. Profound and practical at the same time.

These are my favorites. If you?ve read Gary?s books before, what?s your favorite?

Don?t forget to keep an eye out this weekend for Gary?s article right here on the blog.

Andy Rubin leaving the Android team, Sundar Pichai to take over

Andy Rubin

Google has announced today that Android founder and longtime leader Andy Rubin will be leaving the Android team to explore a "new chapter at Google." Larry Page posted the announcement on Google's Official Blog, which delved into how much Android has grown since its inception and under Rubin. Google says that Sundar Pichai, who currently leads Chrome, will take over. Sundar will continue to work on Chrome as well as take on Android, so he will be taking on quite the workload.

It's a big deal when one of the original founders leaves Android and he will be missed. But it sounds like he has found other opportunities at Google that he would like to explore.

Where will Android go under Pichai? Leave us with your best idea in the comments!
